You CAN have the body of your dreams, the body that you know you really deserve. There is nothing stopping you looking great in all your favourite outfits, and feeling confident around your family and friends. But how do you go about it? What’s the best way to lose a stone in a month? To lose weight you need to be in daily calorie deficit. That is, you need to burn more calories than you eat. If you regularly eat more than the calories you need then these excess calories will be converted to fat. It is all down to the foods you put in your mouth, and of course the quantities that you eat. You have to cut the right calories from your diet. You don’t have to starve yourself to lose a stone in a month (paradoxically, this will have the opposite effect), but you do need to be in calorie deficit, which means consistently burning off more calories than you eat. (This is the key piece of information if you want to know how to lose a stone in a month.)
The average daily calorie intake for women is 2000 calories, and for men it is higher at around 2500 calories per day. Eat more then will gain weight. But eat less and you will lose weight, because your body will have to literally eat into you fat stores to make up the difference. You have to reduce your calorie intake to lose weight. However, the foods that you eat though will make of break your success. You can’t expect to eat 1500 calories of chocolate every day and lose weight. It just doesn’t work like that. So the first thing you should understand is that sugar is your enemy. Sweets, chocolate, cake, and fizzy drinks fit into this category, and are detrimental to your dieting efforts. Then you need to think about your starchy foods like bread, pizza bases, rice, potatoes, etc. These are high in calories and are easily turned to sugar, which will send your blood sugar and insulin levels all over the place. The effect is to make you crave all those sweet foods above, and force your body to try and store fat. But dieting isn’t the only way to achieve calorie deficit.
Boost your calorie deficit for faster weight loss
The greater you calorie deficit the quickly your fat will disappear! The other way to really boost your deficit is to perform some exercise. The more strenuous the exercise and the longer you perform, the greater the amount of calories you will burn off and the greater your deficit. But your exercise doesn’t have to be strenuous. Light to moderate exercise will do. Like walking! A good walk can burn around 100 calories per mile. Just think how quickly you can knock up your calorie deficit just by walking a few times each week!
How much fat do you need to lose?
I think it is a great idea for you to have some idea of how much weight you need to lose. You probably have an idea, or want to lose a stone of two. But you can use the BMI Calculator to give you a good idea. It has a few limitations, but it is certainly a great tool to give you an indication.
